Homemade Lemon And Thyme Seasoned Salt
Ingredients:
1 c kosher salt
1/4 c lemon zest
1 tbsp fresh thyme, roughly chopped
Tools needed:
Microplane zester
Sharp knife
Cutting board
Mixing bowl
Glass jar for storing salt
How to make it:
Zest 3-4 lemons to get 1/4 c lemon zest. Pick leaves of thyme stems and roughly chop. Save stems for making soups and stocks. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Let sit on the counter for 1 hour to dry out the lemon zest stirring the salt every 15 minutes. The salt draws out the natural oils from the lemon and thyme flavoring the salt. Put salt in appropriately sized container. Label and date. Best when used within 3 months.
I use it season baked chicken, pasta dishes and rice.
Enjoy
