Homemade Garlic Chips!
Garlic chips are delicious and make for a good garnish for pastas, topping steaks and even on sandwiches! Plus, they’re incredibly easy to make.
Ingredients:
10-15 garlic cloves
4 qt canola oil for frying
1 tbsp kosher salt
Tools needed:
Cutting board
Sharp knife
Themometer
8 qt or bigger stock pot
Slotted spoon
Towel
Plates
Stove top
How to make the chips:
Warm up oil in stock pot. You want to have double the volume on your pot a you do oil to allow for expansion as the oil heats. Heat oil to 325-350.
Peel paper from garlic cloves (or buy pre peeled). Slice garlic as thinly as possible, at least 1/16 of an inch thick.
Carefully place sliced garlic into the hot oil, fry for 3-5 minutes. They fry quickly and turn from brown to burnt rather fast. As needed, use your spoon to break up any pieces of garlic that may stick together. Once they are nice and golden brown, remove garlic from the oil and place on towel lined plate. Immediately season with salt while garlic is still hot.
I literally munch on a few of these right out of the fryer! Make sure to save some for your food creations and tell me how you used yours! They're delicious, you will love these homemade garlic chips.
