EASY 5 Minute Ketchup Recipe You Didn’t Know You Needed
Ketchup is one of the most popular condiments in my country. It is savory, sweet with a hint of umami…. it has an array of uses. Used for dipping purposes, on burgers, hot dogs, as a base for bbq sauces and in sloppy joe's…check out my recipe using the highlighted clickable text. Freakin’ DELICIOUS. Super quick to make as it throws together in 5 minutes maximum! No need to complicate things…
Ingredients:
12 oz tomato paste
1/2 c honey
3/4 c white distilled vinegar
1-1/2 c water
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Tools needed:
Measuring cups and spoons
Wire whisk
Rubber spatula
Small stock pot
Glass dish for storage or mason jar
How to make it:
Add all ingredients to the stock pot, set on the burner. Heat over high temperature whisking the entire time to break up and smooth out the tomato paste. Once the ketchup has come to a simmer, turn off the heat. Cool slightly, taste and reseason with salt and pepper if desired.
This makes for a great base for sloppy joe’s, on a burger and as a base for bbq sauce….of course as is for using it as a ketchup!
Enjoy!
