Super Easy Kansas City BBQ Sauce Recipe I Always Keep On Hand!
Ingredients:
28 oz can hunts tomato sauce (or use your favorite brand)
1-1/2 c ketchup
3/4 c apple cider vinegar
3/4 c raw cane sugar
1 tbsp kosher salt
1/2 c molasses
1 tbsp paprika
2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground mustard
1/4 c hot sauce - Optional (I love my fermented jalapeno apple hot sauce with this)

1/2 tsp black pepper (about 30 turns on pepper mill)
Tools needed:
Stock pot
Measuring cups and spoons
Rubber spatula
Wire whisk
Can opener

How to make it:
Open the can of tomato puree and add it to the stock pot. Add the rest of the listed ingredients above and mix thoroughly with a wire whisk. Make sure to get any ingredients that may have stuck to the bottom of the pot and break up any clumps from the spices/sugar.
Heat over medium high heat until it just barely comes to a simmer, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to low heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
Pour sauce into mason jars, scraping all sauce with your rubber spatula.
This sauce will keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks if you don’t use it all by then! It is delicious and goes great with grilled tri tip, grilled chicken and chicken wings!
